On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the organized session KS-9 "From Trustworthy AI to Symbiotic AI" was held at the 40th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI2026, G-Messe Gunma), where Research Director Inamura presented this project.
The session was organized by Mr. Toshikazu Fukushima (JST Center for Research and Development Strategy, CRDS), Prof. Kiyoshi Izumi (The University of Tokyo), Research Supervisor of CREST "Symbiotic AI Interdisciplinary Systems", and Prof. Naomi Yamashita (Kyoto University), Research Supervisor of PRESTO "Foundations of Symbiotic AI". Against the backdrop of AI shifting from a mere tool to a partner that collaborates and coexists with people, the session examined the challenges and future directions of trust between humans and AI.
In the CREST "Symbiotic AI Interdisciplinary Systems" segment, Research Supervisor Izumi outlined the vision for the research area, after which Inamura presented the aims and design of this project under the title "Creating an Autonomous Society through Behavior Change Fostered by Coexistence with Self-Mirroring Twins". The panel discussion in the second half was joined by Prof. Akiko Aizawa (National Institute of Informatics), Research Supervisor of CREST "Trustworthy AI Systems", for a cross-area discussion.
